Snoring

Snoring can negatively affect a person’s sleep. During sleep, snoring is caused when the soft tissues in the throat and mouth relax. When this happens, the airway is shrunk and the velocity of airflow increases. When the velocity of air increases during breathing, the soft tissues begin to vibrate and these vibrations result in snoring.

Snoring can be a serious problem for some individuals and some choose to prevent it by surgical techniques. But a more affordable and noninvasive approach is a dentist-prescribed snore prevention device. This is a more comfortable and effective snoring solution than surgery, which has a low to moderate success rate of 20 to 40 percent.

A custom-fabricated dental device that moves the lower jaw into a forward position. This opens the airway and makes breathing easier. With the airway tube being more open, the velocity of airflow is prevented from increasing, resulting in reduced soft tissue vibrations. With the soft tissue vibrations being reduced, this may prevent snoring.
